Everyone knows that it is important to look after your physical health-for example by eating healthily or stopping smoking. But we may take our emotional health for granted, when in fact mental health is something we need to be aware of. In fact emotional well-being protects physical health and improves health outcomes and recovery rates, notably for coronary heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
In daily use, mental health is often synonymous with mental illness and as myths about mental illness abound, both are treated with the same mistrust, fear and rejection. We all have mental health, good, bad , or most of the time fluctuating in between. Statistics show that 1 in 4 of us will, at any time, experience some form of mental health problem.
This section of our website tells you more about mental health and emotional wellbeing. It offers tips for healthy living and provides contact details for other organisations that offer help and support.
