Help, advice, information and guidance on all aspects of healthcare are available in confidence from the Leeds PCT Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS).
What is PALS?
Most NHS organisations have set up a Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) to help members of the public, carers and patients with enquiries and to:-
- Offer advice and information about NHS services like Choose and Book, how to register with a GP or how to find a counsellor
- Ensure any concerns are dealt with promptly and in confidence
- Listen to comments so we can continue to improve patient services
How can PALS help?
Concerns
If you have a concern about NHS services you have received but are not sure what to do the PALS team will:
- Listen to the concerns you have raised in the strictest confidence
- Provide information and advice to resolve them quickly
- Liaise on your behalf to resolve issues
- Provide information about the formal complaints procedure and different independent support groups who can help with making a formal complaint
Provide Information
If you have an enquiry but are not sure who you should speak to or where to find the correct information the PALS team can provide you with lots of different types of information, such as:
- Directing you to support groups locally and nationally
- Providing information about how to register with a GP or NHS dentist
- We can explain how Choose & Book works for appointments at different hospitals
- Acting as a point of contact for local events
- Signposting you to the right departments to find out accurate information
Please note the PALS team cannot provide medical advice. Enquirers should contact NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
