Many people aren't sure of what to do when they need health care and just turn up at A&E. A&E isn't an alternative to your GP and you shouldn't go to A&E simply because your doctor can't see you immediately. Going straight to A&E can put the emergency services under pressure so you should think carefully whether or not your condition or illness is an emergency, Of course the last thing we want to do is stop people going to A&E with serious conditions or injuries, but in many more minor cases they simply need the right advice or could have bought remedies over the counter.
