Leeds is the second largest metropolitan district in England and is home to more than 75 different nationalities. The Leeds district embraces thriving communities such as Headingley, Chapel Allerton and Holbeck, as well as the market towns of Otley and Wetherby, the villages of Harewood and Aberford and the townships of Pudsey and Morley.

Leeds faces the challenge common to all major cities of narrowing the gap between wealthy, thriving areas and those parts of the city which still suffer from severe deprivation.  Approximately one-fifth of the Leeds population lives in areas which are officially rated as among the most deprived in the country.

Because of this the Leeds Primary Care Trust offer a variety of positions and locations across the whole city. The trust employs an increasingly wide cross-section of staff from ethnic groups, to be as representative of our local community as possible.

The Trust has been awarded the Two Ticks Disability Symbol User status, which recognises the Trust's commitment to good practice in employing disabled people.

We signed up to the agreements, plus the five commitments of the Two Ticks award relating to recruitment, retaining employees who become disabled; consulting disabled employees, developing greater awareness of disability, and reviewing progress.

The award aims to make sure that people with disabilities feel confident that their employer will be positive about their abilities.

There are other great benefits of working for the Trust.

These include:

  • Flexible working
  • Final salary pension scheme
  • Occupational health access and staff counsellling service
  • Excellent annual leave entitlements
  • Metrocard scheme
  • NHS discounts.com
  • Sickness benefit
  • Extensive training and personal development opportunties

The Leeds PCT has a no smoking policy and from 31 August 2006 has become a smoke free environment.
